Huang-Cheng (David) Chou

I am a Postdoctoral Scholar–Fellow at the Signal Analysis and Interpretation Laboratory (SAIL) led by Professor Shrikanth S. Narayanan at the University of Southern California. I earned my Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from National Tsing Hua University under the supervision of Professor Chi-Chun Lee, specializing in affective computing, speech, and behavioral signal processing. My research focuses on speech emotion recognition and multimodal understanding and perception, with collaborations across leading labs, including the Speech Processing and Machine Learning Lab led by Professor Hung-yi Lee and the Multimodal Speech Processing (MSP) Laboratory led by Professor Carlos Busso.

I also bring hands-on experience from Amazon Alexa, ITRI, RealTek, and JOOLA Global, where I worked on speech, AI, and machine learning systems from research through deployment. My passion lies in building intelligent, expressive agents that seamlessly integrate speech, language, and emotion to enable natural, real-world interaction.
